This autumn's lecture series at the Senior University in Vadstena has as its local history theme "We dig where we stand". First out is a "Discussion about Kalle Eklund, famous artist from the 1900s". In which Kalle Eklund's granddaughter Cristina Örneståhl talks about her grandfather's art and life in collaboration with Anna Harder Kalle Eklund has in his paintings from the area around Vadstena interpreted the change in the plain during different seasons with a monumental sky and the figurations of the clouds. In these pictures he is linked to national romanticism and Prince Eugen's depictions of the same nature, but is more close to nature and idyllic. In some paintings from the 1910s, Kalle Eklund is cubistically influenced and some pictures from Italy show an unexpectedly constructive and firm image structure.
