Adult 160 SEK, children/youth 8–17 years 50 SEK, including entrance.Here you can immerse yourself in the history of Vadstena monastery and our Swedish saints. Birgitta Birgersdotter lived a fascinating life in the 1300s, founded a new monastic order with its centre in Vadstena and was canonised by the Pope. Her convent was home to both nuns and monks, who for 200 years managed a spiritual, economic and cultural centre in late medieval Sweden. You will be guided in different parts of the medieval nunnery and learn about Birgitta's life, everyday life in the monastery and the dramatic events with Gustav Vasa and the Reformation that meant the end of the Swedish monastic system.
