Guided tour: The Pioneers of the Pen – about the women writers of the Middle Ages

Welcome to a guided tour of this spring's exhibition The Pioneers of the Pen!

Saint Birgitta, Catherine of Siena and Christine de Pizan are three medieval women whose texts have lived on and who are still touching today. In connection with the Year of Literature in Vadstena 2026, the exhibition The Pioneers of the Pen – about the writing women of the Middle Ages will be on display at Sancta Birgitta Monastery Museum.

The exhibition and the tour also tell about other perspectives on female authorship in history, and about the book production and library in Vadstena monastery in the Middle Ages.
