O ignis Spiritus - Vadstena Abbey Church

This autumn, the renowned Uppsala choir Allmänna Sången will embark on a concert tour to Örebro and Vadstena. With sacred themes and music that is specially adapted for large church spaces, the choir meets two places with a sound world of their own: Vadstena Abbey Church and Olaus Petri Church in Örebro. The program moves between early music and contemporary sound worlds, with works such as Gregorio Allegri's Miserere mei, The Night is Advanced and Friede auf Erden. A special focus is on Hildegard Sequence by Gustav Lindsten, which Allmänna Sången performs in collaboration with the composer himself. Gustav Lindsten is a composer, sound designer and multi-instrumentalist based in Stockholm. His music moves between the acoustic and electronic, drawing inspiration from, among other things, field recordings, modular synthesis and the contemporary classical music tradition. In his artistry, he explores themes such as nostalgia, introspection and the meeting between nature and technology. During the concerts, Gustav participates live with his digital music, which creates a meeting between the choir's acoustic sound and electronic soundscapes.
